You feel stuck and unsure of how to keep going. You’re searching for clarity and peace but feel lost and uncertain. Days are long and feel purposeless. Perhaps you feel distanced from those you love, and you’re not sure who you are anymore. You’re angry, sad, and spent. Calling it quits or hiding sounds like the best idea yet.
You are not alone. Life can be hard, exhausting, and overwhelming. Storms of life hit, and they hurt, leaving you feeling wounded, angry, and alone. No matter the storm you may be facing – trauma, substance usage or addiction, family-of-origin stress, ADHD, loneliness, depression, anxiety, or suicidal ideation – I’m here and want to walk with you.
I seek to provide space for you to find rest, so that you can brave the challenges of everyday life. My hope is for you to gain confidence to learn how to better connect with yourself and with others. I want to know you and I am honored to be entrusted with your story.
Prior to becoming a counselor, I pursued various jobs working at local and international nonprofit organizations. My husband and I lived in Southeast Asia for several years and through the relationships we built, we immersed ourselves into a culture very different from our own. My time working both overseas and locally in Dallas grew in me a deep appreciation for others’ worldviews. Walking with family and friends through suffering and shame in both Asia and Texas motivated me to pursue a vocation in counseling.
I attended The University of Texas at Austin and received a Bachelor’s in History. After my time living abroad, I pursued a graduate degree at Messiah University and received a Master of Arts in Counseling. I have a wide range of experiences from having worked in both a private practice setting and an inpatient adolescent facility for substance abuse and addiction.
In our work together, we will unpack who you are as an individual, as well as who you are in the context of your family-of-origin and chosen family dynamics. Through a Family Systems lens, I will help you explore your attachment style as a means to better understand yourself and your relationships with others. We will look at how your nervous system responds to different environments, and through curiosity and compassion, we will work to expand your tolerance for distress.
I help both adolescents and adults who are struggling to manage anxiety identify their values and grow their sense of self. I work with each client to build more meaningful and authentic relationships, true to who they are and who they want to be.
I have received extensive training to help individuals with ADHD manage distractions and experience full, balanced lives. Additionally, as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, I am well equipped to support individuals and families through the pain of addiction and the challenges of recovery.
Whether you are a young adult, an adolescent, or a family seeking support, I am eager to meet you where you are. I am prepared to sit with you in the pain, having navigated many storms in life and journeyed with others through their own. I seek to provide you a safe and peaceful place to heal as you move into a greater fullness that life has to offer.
While I am a Christian, I welcome individuals from all belief systems and walks of life. I will create a space for you that is accepting and non-judgmental, welcoming you exactly as you are and helping you reach your goals, incorporating whatever faith beliefs you hold.
Life’s storms are hard and are not to be weathered alone. If you are ready to begin your healing journey towards deeper, more meaningful connection and belonging, reach out today. I would love to meet you.
