You are having a hard time finding your voice to express your needs. You may even feel guilty when trying to stand up for yourself. You struggle with feeling powerless and have a desire for certainty. You long for quality relationships but feel anxious and struggle with self-doubt. You feel confused trying to identify who you are or understanding what makes you happy. You’re wondering if your upbringing or past is impacting your view of yourself and your current relationships. If this resonates with you, I am here to help.

Our journey through life is full of ups and downs and can be isolating when we find ourselves trying to process our past or current experiences. Our current cultural climate is fast-paced and always evolving. Trying to process through the different crossroads life brings can sometimes bring up feelings of shame, loneliness, pain, or fear. You may be recognizing a difference between the life you hoped for and the one you find yourself living.

Whether you are facing anxiety, have relationship concerns, life transitions, navigating pregnancy, struggling with infertility, grieving, unpacking your adoption story, or have experienced spiritual abuse, I consider it a privilege to walk with you. Together, we can look at your experiences to foster courage, create awareness of the belief systems holding you back, build self-acceptance, and move forward living a life rooted in your value system.

I obtained my Bachelor's in Biology with a minor in Psychology from Texas A&M University and graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Counseling.  In my years of practice, I have developed specialties working with teen girls, women, and parents. I want the therapy room to allow space for you to unpack whatever is bringing you in. My experience has led to holding space for women who are experiencing symptoms of complex trauma and PTSD, anxiety, grief/loss, perfectionism, preverbal trauma, childhood abuse, self-esteem issues, shame, and codependency. As an EMDR trained therapist, I work with individuals to overcome negative self beliefs, fears, traumatic life events, as well as processing childhood experiences. I am also trained in resolving preverbal trauma with the utilization of EMDR. This has been valuable in helping individuals make sense of their own upbringing and adoption stories. Integrated in my practice with EMDR is the use of Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment based approach, and polyvagal theory.

I have a passion for maternal mental health and have advanced training in perinatal and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders (Perinatal Mental Health Certification). I specialize in treating the concerns of women across the lifespan including perinatal, postpartum, neonatal loss, traumatic birth experiences, reproductive issues (infertility, high risk pregnancies), and parenting.

I enjoy working with mothers who are navigating making sense of their new identity, those struggling with newfound expectations and adjustments, and women processing unexpected diagnoses, such as reproductive issues and congenital disorders. Additionally, I have been trained in Gottman’s Bringing Home Baby to help couples navigate the transition into parenthood by strengthening relationship satisfaction, learning communication techniques for the different parenting phases, addressing conflict, building friendship, and strategies for building equality between partners.

Additionally, I work with clients seeking to build a deeper understanding of their spiritual identity. I enjoy supporting individuals as they examine the dynamics of their faith, as well as walking alongside those who have had painful experiences with a church or religious organization. Spiritual abuse can occur in subtle or explicit ways. Oftentimes, it can be challenging to validate your own emotions when those around you seemed to have had a positive experience. I hope to provide you with an environment to explore your experience without being judged.

Whatever pain you can’t get rid of,
make it your creative offering.
— Susan Cain

I provide an authentic and compassionate atmosphere where you can explore and work through feelings, thoughts, beliefs, conscious or unconscious, that may be keeping you stuck. I balance the counseling process with creativity and humor, along with practical solutions and concrete goals.

I believe healing is a process where a safe space, empathy, and insight can provide the opportunity to better know ourselves. Every person has a unique set of strengths, experiences, and capabilities that are woven together. I consider it a privilege to walk with you through your journey in becoming more of the person you hope to be.
